GClient is free desktop client for Google+. GClient allows you to perform all major tasks of Google+ without having to visit the website. GClient integrates into the windows tray. Clicking on it will display a handy window showing your latest Google+ activities. This window allows you to post messages and to follow the activity of your circles.

To run GClient properly, you need .NET Framework 4.0, in case you didn’t install it already.

Although the developer claims that Bad Shortcut Killer can find bad shortcuts from both the desktop and start menu. However, during testing, I found the former to be more accurate, as it did leave behind shortcuts from the Start Menu. Google+ Plus is a new social network by google inc where you can create circles in which friends can be added, and any status or messages can be shared in your circles friends. When a compressed archive is corrupted, it is possible to recover some of the undamaged files. However, it can be hard to determine which files might be recoverable. Zip2Fix is aportable application which extracts undamaged files from a ZIP file when some of the files inside the archive are salvageable. It quickly processes a compressed archive and creates a separate zip folder containing the undamaged files. Zip2Fix can be used to recover undamaged files from ZIP and SFX Zip files. To get started, select a damaged archive and click Open.

Within a few seconds, the file will be processed and the salvageable files will be extracted to a separate zip folder with “ZFX” added to its name.

The ZFX folder will be located in the same system location as the source file. You can then extract the new file and utilize the undamaged files

When installing new copy of Windows you must have noticed following options:

• Format the partition by using the NTFS file system (Quick)
• Format the partition by using the FAT file system (Quick)
• Format the partition by using the NTFS file system

• Leave the current file system intact (no changes)

Why Microsoft has given two options of regular format and Quick Format when one is sufficient? If you do not know the difference between the two then here are the points.

Quick Format:


Quick format permanently removes the file from the disk but does not scan the partition forbad sectors. This option should be chosen if the drive has been scanned earlier and you are sure that the disk is not damaged.

Regular Format:

This format not only removes the files permanently but also scans the disk for bad sectors hence the time taken for this format is more than the Quick format. Use normal format to avoid future disk errors in the drive.

Mozilla has planned to jump into Mobile OS war with the news of its new product – Boot to Gecko. Aiming at standards-based Web technologies, Mozilla has planned to launch it for smartphone first.

The project is in its initial phase right now and company is working on collecting ideas and welcoming developers.

Windows doesn’t provide an option to set different screen resolutions for each user account. Thus, whenever a PC user changes the display resolution, Windows permanently applies it for all configured users account, leaving other users with no choice than to manually restore previously applied screen resolution. Since changing screen resolution each time you logon to Windows is quite a wearisome task, you need a tool like Carroll, which sets individual screen resolution for every user.

Carroll lets users restore the previously changed screen resolution without having to follow the lengthy process of changing screen resolution followed by color bit and display monitor frequency. Recently, we reviewed Google Takeout web service, which is meant to allow users to extract data from numerous services offered by Google. Cloud Export an open source application which provides a similar utility but with more extensive options. It automatically extracts data from specified web applications and saves it to your local folder. Cloud Export has roots based on the Data Liberation Front agenda, which is a Google engineering team, assigned with the goal to make it easier for users to move their data in and out of Google products.  Such services are already gaining importance in the light of recent data related issues such as the Gmail data loss for some users and Dropbox security issues which have raised questions about the security of data saved using cloud applications. The supported accounts for importing data include Gmail, Google Contacts, Google Reader, Picasa, Google Health, Google Finance, Google Talk, Google Docs, Twitter: RSS, Identi.ca/StatusNet: RSS, IMAP account, Jabber, and OFX (Financial Institutions).

Using Cloud Export is easy, click Settings option, enter your account credentials and select the online service from which you wish to extract data. You will be displayed a number of  web services which can be selected to download your data. If you select your Gmail account or a service containing many of your saved items, then the downloading process can take a bit long (depending upon the size of the downloaded data).
